Monday: Celebrating 2 Years of Apple! |

Celebra-ate!
Two years ago I replaced an IBM Thinkpad A31 with an Apple Powerbook 17". From a thick and heavy black slab (by no means actually ugly) to a thin, light and wide alluminium chopping board... Well, it's almost as thin as a chopping board and it's certainly of a similar size! ;) My Girlfriend uses it as her main computer and she is still very happy with it.
Two months later I replaced my IBM Thinkpad T40p with an Apple Powerbook 15". Both are thin, both are fast. The Powerbook didn't have Windows, Powerbook wins. The 15" has for almost 2 years been my main development machine, I have never used a single computer as my main machine for so long without a major upgrade!
We didn't, and still don't, miss Windows. The crashes, lost files, reboots, virii (or viruses?), adware and spyware, all gone. The only things I missed were Counter-Strike and Half-Life. I did play Half-Life 2 on my old A31 with a Radeon 7500, great game, but it didn't look too great on that old behemoth!
There have been a few changes since then, Apple released Tiger with Automator and Spotlight, both of which are just fantastic parts of a great OS. A new and improved version of Xcode, and of course the two great bombshells: Apple switching from PowerPC to Intel, and Apple allowing installation of Windows XP on Apple hardware.
Of course since I bought my MacBook Pro on Friday the lack of Half-Life 2 has become a non-issue...
Apple, thank you for 2 years of great computing, for bringing the joy back into my computer experience! Here's looking forward to many Apple years to come!
