Better burning with Path Finder.
Path Finder has been keeping me happy over the last few days. It is simply a better Finder.
I previously complained about CD
burning speeds with Mac OS X.
I found that it took a lot longer than on my Thinkpad T40p because Mac OS X created an ISO image before burning.
On the Thinkpad I was using a third-party application called RecordNow by Sonic, not the OS. I never used Windows XP's
built-in CD burning functionalityy, RecordNow worked without problems so there was no need to try.
When I installed Path Finder I noticed the Burn function in the Control-Click menu and decide to try it. Path Finder's Burn function
seems to work more like RecordNow on the Thinkpad: it burns "on the fly", without, likely, first creating an image cutting out around 1/3 of the Mac OS X burn times.
ACME Made @ Frequency.
I was looking for a "rag" to protect my screen from the keyboard. I looked at ordering an
iCover directly from ACME
Made's website but didn't after seeing the delivery price to Australia. US$25 for the iCover, US$23 for delivery!
I emailed about an Australian dealer end was told I could buy their products at Frequency
Communications in Rushcutters Bay (Sydney), not too far away!
I went to see the friendly people at Frequency and walked out with my screen protector! A little fiddly to slide onto the screen, but protects the screen
from the keyboard as well as the outside of the lid from scuffing, well worth the AU$59.95 and the fiddle. After all this I save approximately AU$5, ooohh sooo much!
Screen.
There shows a bit of a watery wavy-ness near the bottom right of the screen if I bump the laptop. Not sure if this is normal behaviour or not. The Thinkpad did it a bit more severely.
