Well, the new phone arrived today. It's a 3G
Motorola A835 on Australia's '3' service.
The phone is a little big, not too heavy and
very well featured. It came with a bluetooth headset and a
second battery, which it will probably need with the
power-sucking Bluetooth technology! ;)
The First task was to get the numbers and
addresses onto the new phone that I had imported yesterday. I
tried to use the same method, but that didn't work. The
Bluetooth implementation on the Motorola A835 is either
missing some functionality or "broken".
I then found some information on
Mac OS X Hints that allowed me
to connect the phone with the included USB cable. I
then added a new device i iSync and synchronised
the two addressbooks.
For a short time the file
exchange features worked as expected. Bluetooth browse and
send worked. After two reboots, the Powerbook was no
longer able to find the phone. I'll try this again tomorrow.
I'm blaming the phone since the Powerbook has been able
to connect and reconnect to every other Bluetooth device
I've thrown at it.
